I think that we should rename this the Jonnydoe forum ;-)

Anyway...I have been thinking about blog directories and the way it seems to me is that many of them are just leaks. My stats show very little traffic return from the majority of them. I realize they get indexed frequently which is good but I don't know that it outweighs the negative of being in what I think G views as a direct link exchange scheme. I am thinking that the only directories worth submitting to are those that indeed send some traffic (mostly ones with toplists) and those that allow a-b-c links. Just thinking outloud here...would like to hear some other opinions.

And BTW...I think the linklists like PenisBot and Link-o-Rama that accept blogs are more valuable (they send traffic and it is generally pretty good stuff).

I agree with you. I think toplists are going to be a much better source of traffic or blogs that list your RSS and bring you to the top every time you post.

I am actually looking at doing that with www.assrated.com I want to put the RSS feed into the description for each site in the toplist to allow blogs the ability to syndicate to their listing in the toplist

I agree as well, its the same with anything you are submitting and you need to make your own judgements about the worth of a site.

I allow people to submit to all my directories with a recip to only one of them, I think that helps even it out, that way they get some one way links and I get a recip link to one of my sites.

My original plan with Bravs Bookmarks was to have it as a social bookmarking site with the most recent updated blogs bumped to the top then sorted by hits sent in, but the script I had in mind didnt do the trick and time and resources changed my plans. Might look into that for the new years...
